Build practical skill. Create your next opportunity.
HND in Computing introduces the breadth of computing: analysing a problem, designing a solution, writing and testing software, organising data and understanding the systems that connect users and services. Learners can develop both technical explanations and practical outputs while exploring the connections between these fields.
Projects offer a way to connect research, planning, implementation, testing and presentation. Programming, databases, web development and systems topics can support different future specialisms. The actual programme specification, entry route, awarding arrangements, assessment rules and progression options must be confirmed for the intake; this overview does not assert a particular awarding body or credit total.
What you will explore

Learning through practice
Guided exercises help you turn an explanation into a skill you can demonstrate.
- Analyse a small organisation’s computing requirements
- Develop and test a software or web prototype
- Design a relational data model and sample database
- Present a documented computing project and evaluation
Skills for your next step
Connect several computing disciplines in a practical project
Explain design and testing decisions with evidence
Plan a further specialism using confirmed programme information

Career & self-employment pathways
Possible directions to explore with further practice and the requirements of the role. Employment or professional recognition is not guaranteed.
- Computing and software-development skill pathways
- Systems, data or support specialisation
- Further study subject to the receiving institution’s requirements
